RI:SE launched on 29th April 2002, as Channel 4's replacement of The Big Breakfast, however ratings weren't as good as was first anticipated. Originally presented by Mark Durden-Smith, featuring Dougie Anderson, Henry Bonsu, Al Convy, Helen Chamberlain, Chris Rogers, Colin Murray, Liz Bonnin, Kirsty Gallacher, Edith Bowman, Tom Binns and Mindy Stearns. The first series of the show finished on December 20th 2002.
The whole show was then rebranded, along with it's move to a new panoramic glass studio in Queensway, London. Only Dougie Anderson, Edith Bowman and Mindy Stearns returned. With Edith co-anchoring alongside new host Iain Lee. A new concept was introduced, were the last half hour of the show would be retitled MEL:SUE, and would be hosted by Channel 4 favourites Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins. Zora Suleman took on reading the news, whilst Dougie maintained his OB (outside broadcast) presenting duties. Mindy Stearns was still the US correspondant. It wasn't till episode 231 Kate Lawler took over from Edith Bowman (who was the only host to appear from the first show) co-anchoring with Iain. The show's second series did better then the first, although had to face constant time changes, due to extended Channel 4 News Iraq war coverage airing in the morning. It ended on December 19th 2003, a third series was not commissioned.
