Jeffrey Lee Probst, born November 4, 1961 in Witchita, Kansas and raised in Seattle, where he attended Seattle Pacific University.

He is best known as the host of the reality television series Survivor, which won him an Emmy award and landed him on People Magazine's '50 Most Beautiful People' list in 2001.

In 2001 Jeff wrote and directed an independent film called Finder's Fee. The film starred James Earl Jones and Robert Forster. Probst and his film won awards at two independent film festivals, Best Picture and Best Director awards at the Seattle Film Festival and Breakthrough Director at Sonoma Valley Film Festival.

Prior to hosting Survivor, Jeff hosted two early shows on FX, Backchat and Sound FX, was the voice of Vice Principal Raycliff in the show Fillmore and was involved with Access Hollywood for some time. He was also the host of VH1's Rock and Roll Jeopardy from 1998-2001.

Jeff was married to psychotherapist Shelly Wright for five years until their divorce in 2001. He currently lives in Los Angeles when not on location with his hit show Survivor. I think Jeff Probst if IMO, is the first and the only original reality tv show host.
I couldn't at all imagine Survivor without him.
Because he has to be a teacher, coach, drill instructor, detective, comic relief, as well as host & producer. All rolled-up into one.
The show wouldn't be the same without him. Because I am glad he is staying on at least until the seventeenth edition.
Of the GRANDADDY of reality tv shows.
No wonder more than sixty million tuned into the show or one of the reasons is him.

Completes the show survivor, he makes it worth watching even when the contestants are doing things stupid and annoying, you can be sure at least Jeff will hold it together. Mark should pay him more for being the most experienced and talented reality/game show host. also Jeff Probst has the greatest job in the world, he works two thirty-nine (or so) day shifts per year and the job site is better and more exotic than you last vacation. On second thought, Jeff should be paying Mark. Jeff Probst is the best Male reality/game show host.
(Brooke Burke is the best female reality/game show host and you should know why)

All reality shows that are not �Survivor� would be better programs if they had Jeff Probst as a host. Even he has improved his performance. If you have seen season one or two on OLN or on DVD, you will notice how much more comfortable he is in the job currently.

On the other hand, compared to the wooden performances of Julie Chen (Big Brother), or the host of other interchangeable reality show hosts, Jeff Probst at his worst is way better than any of the others.

Jeff is able to relay information to the contestants and viewers alike without coming across as a know it all or appearing to be reading from a script.
