Renowned actress Jodie Foster once said in a 2008 interview that Claire is one of the very few celebrities she knows who started out as a child and grew up to be "a well-adjusted person with a full life." (edit) Claire auditioned for the lead roles of Rose in Titanic and Lisa in Girl, Interrupted (both were 1997 films), but she lost both roles to Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie, respectively. (edit) In 2007, 28-year-old Claire joked that her friends called her "Grandma" because she didn't bother with a cell phone, I-Pod, or other such technologies. Claire claimed that she didn't even know how to use a cell phone. (edit) Claire says that when she was five years old and saw Madonna dancing on TV, she herself knew that she wanted to be a performer. (edit) Oliver Stone, Claire's director in U-Turn, was the one who wrote her recommendation letter for Yale University. (edit)

Claire Danes: It's so funny, because getting a role on Broadway is kind of like getting pregnant. All of a sudden, people start bombarding you with all kinds of advice and personal experiences. (edit) Claire Danes: I went to my first make-out party when I was 12, and I didn't know anybody there. That was the kinkiest I've ever been! His name was Peter, and he was from Sweden. Not a bad way to start. (edit) Claire Danes: When I was younger--like 14--I was desperate to find that "true love" experience, but the truth is, if you have to ask yourself if you're in love, then you're not. (edit) Claire Danes: Television is incredibly impactful and powerful. The failure of a show accesses more people than the most successful movie. Movies are talked about with kind of more reverence or something, but they're not as powerful culturally. TV stars have a whole other level of celebrity. (edit) Claire Danes: I was told that going to college wouldn't be good for my career, but I think that's nonsense. It's good to empower yourself by cutting yourself off from this business every once in a while. (edit)
