1. Thy Kingdom Come

Artist Peter Rickman is jogging and run down by a stoned, two-time loser driving a minivan. He is admitted comatose to Kingdom Hospital, but not before encountering a frightening, ghostly figure whose mission is to use him to rid the hospital of malevolence, both human and inhuman, and to free its nine-year old mistress, Mary, from the hospital's haunted halls. When he awakens in an altered state with newfound but not necessarily welcome telepathic powers, Rickman finds he can communicate with the spirits, good and evil, man and beast, inhabiting the hospital. Mrs. Druse, an elderly patient with psychic gifts, is the first to hear the cries of the trapped ghost and attempts to persuade brilliant, eccentric surgeon Dr. Hook to join her quest to identify it. She is opposed in this effort by the hopelessly arrogant and mean-spirited chief neurologist Dr. Stegman, and the ebullient but vacuous hospital administrator, Dr. Jesse James, who is concerned only with the hospital's image.

2. Death's Kingdom

Mrs. Druse holds a séance to put the little girl's ghost to rest. However, Dr. Stegman interrupt when he orders Dr. Hook to discharge her. Meanwhile, the man who put Peter in the hospital is brought in by the paramedics and has problems of his own as the same spirits target him. Elmer pursues Dr. Massingale romantically.

3. Goodbye Kiss  

First aired: 3/17/2004    Production Code: 103

After seeing a girl and finding a toy doll in the elevator shaft, Dr. Hook is convinced to help Druse stay in the hospital while she tries to find the source of the haunting. Meanwhile, a prisoner and his girlfriend plan out a suicide pact at separate locations, but it goes wrong when he is saved by the Kingdom Hospital staff. More information is revealed about the malpractice case against Dr. Stegman and that he killed a patient while in surgery at his last job in Boston, and is now being accused of messing up another surgery with a young girl. The mother now plans to sue for malpractice. And finally, Peter Rickman is visited in his mind by the beast in his painting, and also comes in contact with Mary and Paul.

4. West Side of Midnight  

First aired: 3/24/2004    Production Code: 104

Dr. Traff's ex-wife Emma dies from a heart attack while under his care, while his son Elmer has a dream involving the anteater Antubis. Lenny passes onto the other side, and tries to help Druse find out more about Mary. After a night of anger and harassment, Stegman goes off the deep end and starts trying to find out who defaced his car. Finally, while Druse finds out through Lenny that Rickman knows what's going on in the hospital, Paul starts to use Pedersen to make sure Druse doesn't find out.

5. Hook's Kingdom  

First aired: 3/31/2004    Production Code: 105

Mrs. Druse is called in to assist with her psychic abilities when the trapped evil spirit of a tortured teenaged boy wreaks havoc on the staff, patients and innocent spirits inhabiting Kingdom Hospital. Meanwhile Dr. Hook forges a relationship of the mortal variety.

6. The Young and the Headless  

First aired: 4/8/2004    Production Code: 106

Mrs. Druse and Hook use Peter's drawings to make contact with Mary and her nemesis, Paul, and begin to navigate through the trenches of Kingdom Hospital's horrifying past. Meanwhile, Dr. Traff's attempt at a love prank on sleep psychologist Dr. Lona Massingale goes terrifyingly wrong.

7. Black Noise  

First aired: 4/15/2004    Production Code: 107

Peter is trapped in his coma but gets a message to Dr. Hook and Mrs. Druse warning that he knows of Mary. Meanwhile, a lawyer with a heart condition is checked in and becomes Pedersen's new roommate. An alcoholic earthquake expert is Peter's new roommate, and Stegman is distracted by the recent earthquakes.

8. Heartless  

First aired: 4/22/2004    Production Code: 108

An attorney in need of a heart transplant rues the day he checked into Kingdom Hospital. Meanwhile, Peter discovers newspaper clippings inside Mary's doll that reveal the horrific details of the 1869 Gates Falls Mills fire that killed scores of children on the very ground where the hospital now stands.

9. Butterfingers  

First aired: 4/29/2004    Production Code: 109

When a retired major league baseball player attempts to take his own life and is admitted to Kingdom Hospital, he begins a chain reaction that opens up some horrific old wounds and changes history for those--living and dead--who inhabit the hospital.

10. On the Third Day  

First aired: 6/24/2004    Production Code: 110

When Reverend Jimmy Criss of the Christ-Only-Christ mission is killed, new life resurges in and around Kingdom Hospital and the mystery behind Mary's death is revealed. Meanwhile, maintenance man Jack Handlemann delivers a destructive blow to Stegman's ego and most prized possession, and the hospital staff work to free workers trapped in a collapse from another earthquake.

11. Seizure Day  

First aired: 7/1/2004    Production Code: 111

When two different patients have seizures, they awaken to frightening visions of the living dead haunting Kingdom Hospital's halls. Meanwhile, the reverberations from Mona Klingerman's seizure brings Dr. Stegman's worst nightmares to the surface. Elmer and Abelson each try to acquire the Klingerman anesthesia report for their own purposes.

12. Shoulda' Stood in Bed  

First aired: 7/8/2004    Production Code: 112

Peter Rickman has yet another seizure and witnesses the eventual fate of Kingdom Hospital, making a tangible connection with its frightening past. When Peter awakens, his drawings help Mrs. Druse make a direct connection to Mary, and serve as the key to correcting evil deeds done by the Kingdom's forefathers. Meanwhile, Brenda and Dr. Hook finally publicize Stegman's guilt in the Mona Klingerman medical malpractice incident --and send him on a crazed and violent quest for vengeance.

13. Finale  

First aired: 7/15/2004    Production Code: 113

Peter, Dr. Hook, Antubis and Sally Druse join forces to uncover the real answers to Kingdom Hospital's horrifying history and forever alter its future. A séance held by Sally Druse sends Dr. Hook and Peter back to the Old Kingdom. When they finally return with answers to buried secrets of the Gates Falls Mill fire, Mary's trapped spirit is freed and the future of Kingdom Hospital is altered forever. Meanwhile, when a vengeful Dr. Stegman finally catches up with the real Johnny B. Goode and Antubis, his most terrifying visions of The Old Kingdom are realized.
